Included in Smithsonian magazine's list of the "100 Most Significant Americans of All Time,” both Sojourner Truth and the Green Lantern were not always welcomed in the spaces they carried their light, but the mission was to always illuminate the darkness with truth.  Being a light in dark spaces seemed to be both of these heroes’ core specialty, but Sojourner’s superpower also rested in the book of her voice and the articulation of her words as an activist and speaker for women’s rights. Her powers were also shown through her ability to push through barriers for the sake of others whom she fought to ensure were delivered what was owed, such as land and the ability to be sovereign and free.
