Claudette Colvin: War Machine
Before Rosa Parks, there was Claudette Colvin a fifteen-year-old girl who refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus in 1955. For her defiance, she was arrested, handcuffed, and thrust into history. Like War Machine, Colvin carried a heavy armor not of metal but of courage, built at an age when most are sheltered from the weight of the world.
War Machine is defined by resilience, by stepping into battle with weapons forged from necessity. Colvin did the same, standing against segregation with nothing but conviction in her hands. Though her act of resistance was overshadowed, her fire never faded. She testified in the landmark Browder v. Gayle case that ultimately struck down bus segregation, proving that even the youngest warriors can change the course of history.
Claudette Colvin is War Machine unyielding, battle-tested, and proof that you don’t need to be fully grown to step into the fight. She carried the revolution on her shoulders before the world was ready to call her a hero, and in doing so, she showed that armor is not worn it is lived.
